The image is hand printed from a hand made collagraph plate and a handmade silkscreen print.

I create my plates by engraving into thin wooden board. I then glue recycled materials to the board and form textures with plaster and carborundum. Once the plate is thoroughly dry, a coat of shellac or varnish is used to seal it. The following day, my collagraph plate is ready to print from.

Only a few images can be produced from each plate, before it degrades.

The image was carefully inked and printed in two stages onto Somerset Velvet printmaking paper using my etching press.

A few days later . . once the inks have dried . . I will often create a silkscreen to print fine details.

The artwork is available mounted and backed or professionally framed in black or oak.
