A Collagraph is a beautifully textured, hand printed painting. The word originates from the Greek kola meaning glue and graph, the activity of drawing. Within each of the many processes lies a multitude of concepts to be explored and selected to create the artists’ work.
The technique has similarities in many ways to traditional etching and relief printing. However the combination of processes provides more versatility for the artist and allows a more experimental approach.
Papers and found materials can be recycled in this way.
Importantly, it is less harmful to the environment than traditional etching.
